Addiction to the Internet and Online Gaming

NG, Brian D. and Wiemer-Hastings, Peter. “Addiction to the Internet and Online Gaming.” CyberPsychology & Behavior 8.2 (2005): 110-113. Scholar Search. Web. 11 Mar. 2010.

Authors BRIAN D. NG, M.S. and PETER WIEMER-HASTINGS, Ph.D. report that research states that this disorder can be as addicting and harmful as substance and gambling disorders. These massively multiplayer online role playing games (MMORPGs), are usually more addictive than non-MMORPG’s, and are also more dangerous to the players because they get pulled into a virtual reality and neglect other aspects of their lives such as friends and family, work, and school.
